The whole idea of the show was based around light using the death note to get rid of people he thought werent worthy of living which in itself is a dark idea. I prefer the manga ending though.

Mikami was clearly a fanatic he would lay down his life for his god and what he thought of as the greater good. Just did a post about mikami. Its better that the series didnt end with l winning it feels more tasteful that kira continues on. I would have loved to see him kill near and mello i didnt like them very much either.

Its a good reminder that no matter how smart you are things dont always go your way. But light did it with the help of an idiot shinigami and because l didnt use the notebook himself which he could have since he knew the names of everyone there so if he could write fast enough or get into another place with the notebook he would have won.
